KOSCIUSKO — William Marion Shaw, age 90, formerly of Holcomb, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Sparta Methodist Church near Holcomb, with visitation being held from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Mortimer National Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
He was born on February 20, 1933, in Charleston, the son of the late William Walter Shaw and Myrtle Lucille Shook Shaw.
Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and after 23 years of service. He retired as a Seargeant First Class. He was a member of Sparta Methodist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Mary Woodall; and two brothers, Ronnie Dean Shaw and John Talmadge Shaw.
He is survived by three daughters, Robin Thomas, Penny Boughton and Keslear Shaw; one son, Bro. William Wade Shaw; four sisters, Carol Rideout, Brenda Hoop, Lana Kirkendall and Katie Ann Shaw; five brothers, Bobby Shaw, Glenn Shaw, James Shaw, Russell Shaw and Donnie Shaw; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Sparta Methodist Church or to the Sparta Cemetery Fund.
