On Saturday, Jan. 21, The Meek Foundation and Exquisite Pearls of Excellence were nominated and recognized for Business Partnership of the Year by MENTOR Memphis Grizzlies (MMG) at their National Mentoring Month Awards.
MMG unites a broad range of local community organizations, businesses and civic leaders to promote, support and advocate youth mentoring.
With a focus on increasing the number and impact of mentor relationships in Memphis and the Mid-South, the partnership provides resources, leadership and, in some cases, funding to more than 70 local mentoring programs serving over 4,300 young people.
The Exquisite Pearls of Excellence is an organization that focuses on providing mentors and programming for teen girls in grades 9-12 in Mississippi and Tennessee. Charleston High School hosts the organization’s first school-based mentoring program.
In a statement, The Meek Foundation, based in Charleston, thanked the MENTOR Memphis Grizzlies, Exquisite Pearls of Excellence, Renee Meeks, Shaquita Prince and Tarcia Parrish for the honor.
