On Monday evenings be-ginning Nov. 13, New Testament Survey II will be offered in Charleston by Southern Baptist Seminary Extension. The class is for those sensing a call to Christian ministry, or laypeople who simply want to be better equipped as Sunday school teachers, church leaders or lay preachers when their pastor is sick, etc.
The class will be taught by Joe Young, a pastor in Tallahatchie County for 50 years who holds a master’s degree in New Testament and Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1974) and a doctorate from the same school in Ministry, with a New Testament emphasis. Young has 41 years teaching experience in East Tallahatchie School District and taught as adjunct instructor for Northwest Mississippi Community College from 1982-2017. He taught as adjunct professor of New Testament for the Hispanic Baptist Seminary in Jackson for several years, and for Southern Baptist Seminary Extension for a decade.
Tuition will be kept low because Young will not accept pay for the class. The first class will be held at 6:30 p.m., and those enrolling will then set the time for future meetings. Class will meet at Charleston’s Faith Baptist Church.
Both men and women may enroll. All students must have a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED). Those interested or who have questions may contact Young on Facebook or by calling or texting 662-647-7021. Specifics are flexible and will be adjusted to accommodate the needs of students.
