Congratulations to Jordan and Lacey Bell on their second baby boy. Jack Henry Bell made his appearance Friday, July 15, about mid-afternoon, weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20½ inches long. Welcoming his baby brother home was big brother Wyatt. Phillip and Susan Bell and Hank and Ann Vaughn, all of Caledonia, are the proud grandparents. Proud great- grandmother is Ruby Bell of Caledonia.
Phil and Ginger Harrison and boys Jake and Josh, and Phil’s mother Diane Hill, had an awesome weekend filled with tasty food, shopping and 4-H! Shout out to Josh Harrison! Josh placed 8th in the State 4-H .22 pistol shooting competition. “We are proud of you, Josh,” said his mother, Ginger. Josh’s fellow 4-H friend, Matthew Bardo, won 3rd place overall and is headed to nationals! The Harrisons said a very special thank you to their volunteer coach, Philip Zampella: “We appreciate you and your time.” I am very proud of all the Yalobusha County 4-H!
Thank you so much, Eugene and Peggy Bailey, for the cucumbers that you sent to us by way of Ruth Jane Hailey. I have been craving cucumbers. Peggy, tell Eugene not to start any rumors when he reads I was craving cucumbers!
Our lunch guests Sunday were daughter Donna Garripoli and son, Tim Sullivan. I fixed fresh peas, cabbage and smoked sausage, cornbread and banana pudding.
Martha Box was blessed with a great service at the church of her niece, Melanie Stephens, Batesville Assembly of God. She was fed with a great message and a great meal afterward, then she was fed a big supper by Bobby McClanahan and Michelle Clolinger. “Yes,” she said, “Four-letter word all next week ... diet!”
Martha said her physical therapy is over and with great results. She had a good visit at Bike Nite at Grenada with Gloria Mitchell and Ann Summers. Friday, she was rescued from having a heat stroke by brother Jesse Wortham. When she went over to Ginger’s to feed the kitty while they were out of town, the doggie pushed the door closed as she stepped out on the back porch. Yep, locked out on sky high porch with high rails and no step down. Martha said thank heavens for having a phone on her.
Sunday afternoon, Sam Pullen and his grandmother, Diane Dukes, took lil Joanna Pullen to the George Cossar State Park for a play afternoon. Joanna’s mother, Anna Pullen, left Sunday going to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to attend school for a week.
Happy birthday to Patricia Lindsey on the 21st; to Bro. Mike Ramage on the 23rd; to Martha Box, Pattie Ramage, Ernie Holliday and my sweet childhood friend, Sandra Craig Anderson, who share a birthday on the 24th; to Sadie Harper on the 26th; and to Malenda Harris Meacham on the 27th! I pray you all have a wonderful day celebrating.
Someone I know is going around town sporting a new GMC Acadia Denali. It looks like Diane Dukes sitting behind the wheel. Diane’s son, Dale Dukes, visited with her a little while Sunday afternoon.
Please pray for Jesse Tillman. He is back in ER at the VA hospital with Afib and chest pain. This is after his open heart surgery.
Prayers for Doris Hoop’s son, Mike Crow, who took ill after vacationing in Missouri. Mike floated down the Current River and got sick. He was taken to the ER in Poplar Bluff. After examining him, he was sent home. A week later, he was airlifted to The Med in Memphis. Mike has been there several days and they are still doing tests.
Since Tuesday was Tommy McCool’s birthday, Wanda Crawford and Debbie, his wife, were going to take him to the movies Tuesday night. His daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Jason Beavers had a cookout for him Sunday. I know they all had a good time.
