Farrah Franklin James, 8-year-old daughter of Billy and Amy James of Charleston, will be a contestant in the statewide Miss Magnolia State Pageant finals in Vicksburg this weekend.
The event will be held Sept. 20-21 at the Vicksburg City Auditorium.
James, who currently represents the area as Young Miss Delta Sparkle, is the granddaughter of Bubba and Bonnie James of Charleston and Kim Baker of Grenada.
She will compete in the Young Miss category and is one of 42 contestants, ages 8-9, vying for the title of Young Miss Magnolia State.
One unique aspect of this pageant is that the children who compete do not wear glitzed-out attire or don fake hair or spray tans, according to organizers.
The winners in each age division will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship for their future education.
James’ mother said that her daughter “appreciates all the support she’s been given in the months leading up to this event from her friends, family and community. She hopes to make you all proud!”
