Moving forward to the season of thanksgiving and the light that gives our lives meaning, the Charleston Magnolia Garden Club replanted the town square containers recently and also hosted its annual luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
I only have photos for the replanting but the luncheon was a huge success also. Allison Ashmore, Gay Lynn Haynes, Marline Carpenter, Carrie Rice, Martha Joe Venable and Carol Bullard were in attendance to plant pansies and for the joy of spring, tulips! Be sure and look for them in April after the pansies have panted the last time in the heat that is sure to come early like it does in our region.
The annual fall luncheon held in town for the blessing of our patrons and our supporters was very tasty. (I am quoting the guests.) We served poppy seed chicken with rice, green beans ala Sassy Mauldin, and cheese cake with a variety of fruit or tasty toppings.
Our president, Celia Willamson, managed the serving and setup as any good president would do. Our club members like Allison Ashmore, Mahaley Hames and Clyde Callihan showed up in force to dish up the lunch while Carol Bullard and a new member, Amy, poured the tea.
Joy Mullen could be found in the front taking up money for tickets or directing the guests to the right area. Elizabeth Fly was at the other entrance for the carry-out orders that Marline Carpenter managed.
We all visited the citizens of town who came for the food and fellowship. It is always a distinct pleasure for the club. Also, our funds for flowers and trees and any other beautification comes from this endeavor.
