Moving Together. Living Better.
What happens when better health becomes something a community builds together?
Healthy communities are strengthened one step, one conversation, and one neighbor at a time. That is the idea behind the Midday Movement program at the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center, where affordable wellness activities are helping more Charleston residents stay active, connected, and engaged throughout the week.
For just $10 a month, participants can walk the indoor track, join instructor-led fitness classes, work with a personal trainer, and spend time with friends in a welcoming environment. Monthly guest speakers and wellness workshops add practical information that helps people build healthier habits for the long term. The program was created to make movement accessible, enjoyable, and part of everyday life.
Why does that matter? Because healthier communities are built when people have opportunities to participate together.
Someone may gain the confidence to exercise for the first time. A neighbor may find encouragement to keep going. New friendships may form alongside stronger bodies and healthier routines. Small steps like these create lasting progress.
That is why this is a Charleston Thrives progress story.
The Health & Well-Being Working Group understands that thriving is about more than treating illness. It is about creating opportunities for people of all ages to live healthier, more connected lives. Every person who joins, every class attended, and every healthy habit formed helps strengthen Charleston’s future.
That is what Making Progress Together looks like.
