A Greenwood man has been sentenced in Tallahatchie County Circuit Court to five years imprisonment after pleading guilty to the fondling of a minor.
Records on file Monday at the circuit clerk’s office in Charleston show that Cleve Gordon, 30, of 702 Waldpole, Apt. G, entered a negotiated plea and was sentenced Aug. 25 by Circuit Judge Smith Murphey V.
The sentence also includes seven years on probation, with the full sentence to run consecutive to unspecified sentences previously imposed in other criminal cases.
Murphey also ordered Gordon to pay a fine of $1,000, to be credited to the Mississippi Children’s Trust Fund — the fund provides financial assistance to initiatives directed at preventing child abuse and neglect — and a fee of $100 to the state Crime Victim Compensation Fund.
In other court news:
• Shannon Looney, 41, of Oakland, pleaded guilty to grand larceny in connection with the February theft of an electric generator.
Previously convicted of drug-related offenses in two other criminal cases in Calhoun and DeSoto counties, Murphey on Aug. 25 sentenced Looney as an habitual offender, ordering him to serve five years to run concurrent with any other sentences being served.
Murphey also stipulated that the five years is to be served without parole or the possibility of early release.
In addition, Looney was ordered to pay court costs totaling $386.
