CHARLESTON — Mary Louise Hargett, age 79, of Charleston entered eternal rest Thursday, April 24, at her home.
Visitation was held 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Newsom Funeral Home and 1-3 Sunday, April 27 before the service.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Charleston Church of God with interment following in Charleston City Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
She was born August 22, 1945 in Rome, the daughter of the late Allen and Alice O’Neal-Henson.
Louise was well loved and well known as a member of the business community and had many friendships that were built over decades in Tallahatchie County and beyond. For 34 years she and her husband were owners of Country Catfish where she could be seen from opening until closing most nights. In addition to her love of the food business, in Charleston she also assisted and helped manage Hargett Auto Sales for many decades.
She was a Christian with her membership in the Charleston Church of God for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Hargett; and many other relatives and friends.
Louise is survived by three sons: Stacy Hargett (Amy), Darrell Hargett (Theresa) and Heath Hargett, all of Charleston; five grandchildren, Alex, Niles, Katlyn, Emily and Cayden Hargett. She was joyfully proud of her four great-grandchildren as her family was her life.
Serving the people of Charleston and the surrounding area was her passion next to her deep love for Christ.
The family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to the charity of one's choice.
