The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, August 2, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a storm system slides east tomorrow, showers and storms
are likely across a broad area extending from the Gulf Coast
to the interior Northeast. Storms may be isolated and should
stay below severe limits, but gusty winds and heavy rain
cannot be ruled out. In the Upper Midwest, especially
Minnesota, evening storms may turn severe. Hail, damaging
winds and a few tornadoes are all possible as another storm
system approaches. These storms will largely be fueled by a
return of temperatures well above average in the Central
states, with triple-digit heat likely as far north as South
Dakota and southern Minnesota. In the Southwest, recent
heavy monsoon rainfall will taper down a bit but shift
northward into the central Rockies and Northwest. Cooler
conditions are likely near the Pacific coast.
