The Nation's Weather for Thursday, August 11, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a slow-moving cold front continues to sink southward
tomorrow, the focus for rain and thunderstorms will move
into the Southeast states. Stretching from Mississippi to
the Carolinas and southeastern Virginia, thunderstorms will
be capable of producing heavy rain which can lead to
localized flooding. The highest flood threat is likely in
mountainous regions, where runoff can funnel into valleys.
Farther to the north, temperatures and humidity will
decrease behind the front, though spotty showers will remain
possible. In the Southwest, an increase in moisture
associated with the North American monsoon will allow for
showers and storms to develop. While not all locations will
be impacted, the heaviest storms can lead to flash flooding.
