Cascilla Water Association is issuing a “boil water” notice effective on Sunday, April 26, for those customers who receive their drinking water from connections on Pressgrove Road, Hwy 35, Leverette Lane, Orrell Drive, Taylor Road, and Sycamore Flat Road located in Tallahatchie County.
This precautionary action is necessary because, due to a mechanical failure, as the part of the system that receives its water from the storage tank on Pressgrove Road experienced a loss of pressure.
Again, this notice only affects those users who receive their drinking water from connections on Pressgrove Road, Hwy 35, Leverette Lane, Orrell Drive, Taylor Road, and Sycamore Flat Road.
When a water distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the system. Public health officials consider any system that has lost pressure contaminated until tests of the water prove otherwise.
As soon as pressure is restored to those customers affected, water system officials will begin collecting water samples for testing and recommend that consumers vigorously boil their water for one minute before it is consumed or use an alternate source for drinking/cooking. Users will be notified when tests indicate the water is safe to drink.
Checklist for Safe Water Use

DO
· Wash your dishes in boiled water, or use paper plates for the next few days.
