OAKLAND — Live music takes center stage at Oakland’s fourth Yalo-Ribbon Festival on Saturday, May 3, in downtown Oakland.
The festival hours change this year with a 3 p.m. opening. Vendors, Kids Zone, food trucks and games start at 3 p.m., with the popular cake walk at 3:30 p.m.
Live music starts at 4 p.m.
Local country music favorites Jessey Higdon and Steve McGregory lead off the afternoon’s live music. McGregory is well-known in Oakland as the pianist at Oakland Baptist Church. The two musicians have played together for years now and cover country plus fan favorites like Jimmy Buffet. McGregory has played on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
New to the Oakland stage this year is Tanner Mills, who plays a variety of country music ranging from the ’90s to the present day.
Closing out the festival’s music lineup will be the duo Variety. They perform around the Mid-South to great reviews.
Well-known local DJ Bob Murphree will keep the crowd entertained during the festival.
Chairs may be set up for listening to the bands following the cake walk at 3:30 p.m.
Live music is sponsored by the Ed and Becky Meek Foundation. No coolers.
Back again by popular demand is mechanical bull-riding. All ages enjoyed this fun activity when it was introduced to the festival last year.
