CHARLESTON — Benford Brown Jr., age 85, passed away Wednesday, March 30, in Charleston.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Newsom Funeral Home chapel with interment following in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery near Paynes.
Mr. Brown was the retired owner of Brown’s Flying Service of Charleston. He was a member of Paynes Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Larry (Anita) Brown of Grenada, Steve (Shannon) Brown of Charleston, and Bradley (Peyton) Brown of Charleston; a sister, Nina Townes of Goodlettsville, Tenn; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Anna Bell Brown; his brother, Charles Brown, and his sister, Marjorie Staten.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
