CHARLESTON — Emily Smith Etheridge, age 93, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, at her residence in Charleston.
Graveside services were held 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Charleston City Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Emily was a member of The Magnolia Garden Club, Rook club, and member of First Baptist Church of Charleston, where she taught Sunday school class for forty years, and was one of three of the oldest church members. She was an avid oil painter, loved ceramics and was a pet lover.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Magee (Don) of Brandon; two sons, Buddy Etheridge (Janet) of Charleston and Stacy Etheridge of Charleston; one sister, Eleanor Smith Worsham of Charleston; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Etheridge Sr.; her parents, Erma and Emma Smith; one son, Calvin Brian Etheridge; and two brothers, Erma Jr. and Eugene Smith.
The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Charleston.
