PHILLIP — Faye Porter, age 80, passed away Friday morning, May 22, at her home in Phillip.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 24, beginning 2:30 p.m. at Magnolia Garden Cemetery in Paynes. Newsom Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Porter was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Phillip, was a school bus driver for the West Tallahatchie School District, nurse’s aide at Tallahatchie General Hospital, hotel operator with her husband in Columbus, and loved elections and her position as a poll worker.
Those whom she leaves behind include two daughters, Pam Dickey (Tim) of Holcomb; Phoebe Jim Baker (John) of Phillip; one son, Tansil Edward Porter Sr (Kelly) of Phillip; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie E. Porter; her parents, Hayden and Margarette Pernell; a granddaughter, Cheryl Farmer; and a sister, Diane Parish.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
