Frances Fly

CHARLESTON — Frances “Dora” Fly, age 69, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, Feb. 16,  after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Her family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Lamb-Fish Chapel of Newsom Funeral Home in Charleston. Her service will be on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Goshen Cemetery near Coffeeville.

Dora was a wonderful wife, mother, Memaw, friend and teacher.

Dora worked many years for the East Tallahatchie School District where she enriched the lives of many students and staff members. She owned and operated Fly Gin Repair and worked part-time for Region One Mental Health Center. Dora enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, camping, riding Gold Wing scooters and traveling - especially to the mountains.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her beloved daughters, Serena Woods and Beth (Mike) Harper; her three grandchildren, Matt (Corey) Miletello, Cody Fly and Nikki Woods; and one great grandson, Jaxson Evans.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Fly; her parents, Annie and Vernon Mounce; her great grand-children, Jacob Fly, Blaire Miletello and twins, Ethan and Owen Miletello.
