GREENWOOD — Herbert “Buster” Harlan Schultz, age 72, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, at his home.
Visitation was held 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at North Greenwood Bapsit Church with Dr. Jim Phillips officiating. Interment follwed at 2 p.m. in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in the Paynes community near Charleston. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #29.
He was born on July 23, 1947 in Brookhaven to the late Charles and Julia Long Schultz and resided in Greenwood the past six years. He was an active member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir. He retired from DHS as a program specialist after 20 years of service. Buster proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Charles Schultz, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Sullivan Schultz of Greenwood; son, Gavin Schultz of Charleston; daughter, Memorie Guest of Charleston; two grandchildren, Landon Guest of Inverness and Georgia Guest of Inverness; step-son, Dustin Sullivan of Greenwood; step-daughter, Courtney Sullivan Gillon of Greenwood; four step-grandchildren, Preslee Sullivan, Taylor Sullivan, Dean Sullivan and Sadie Sullivan; and a sister, Margaret Cockerham of Liberty.
Pallbearers will be Ben Hair, David Pentecost, Raymond Gillon, David Gillon, Roger Austin, and Reggie Daves. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dr. Terry McMillin.
