CHARLESTON — James Don Murphree, age 82, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, at his home.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Bethel United Methodist Church with interment following in Bethel Cemetery in the Teasdale community. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Murphree was a faithful christian man, member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Enid all of his life. He loved his family, grands, great-grands, his tractor, plowing, cutting grass and was a retired foreman of fifty-two years for Sprinkler Fitter.
Those whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Virginia Hodges Murphree of Enid; three daughters, Lynn (Justin) Miller of Florence, Brenda Brasher of Oakland and Vickie Oates (Stacy Barbee) of Oakland; his brother, Rae (Carol) Murphree of Smithville; 7 grandchildren, Brett (Chelsi) Brasher of Starkville, Brigg and Blaye Brasher of Oakland, Dalton Murphree of Memphis, Adam (Anna) Oates of Pope, Josh (Sarah) Faulkner and Amanda (Ryan) Wilkinson of Madison; 7 great-grandchildren, Becky Kate, Anderson and Ansley Brasher of Starkville, Ollie Dean Oates of Pope, Alexis Penn, Shannon Faulkner and Meghan Faulkner of Madison, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Amon and Eva Murphree, and his granddaughter, Ariel Brasher.
