CHARLESTON — James Monroe “Tut” Rodgers, age 81, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Friendship East Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of Friendship Church, an avid hunter, fisherman, hard worker, a great dad and Poppa that loved his children and grandchildren very much.
Those whom he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Janice Morgan Rodgers of Charleston; his daughter, Angela “Angel” Denonne Rodgers Kennedy (Ben) of Charleston; two sons, Dennis Aaron Rodgers (Darline) of Greenville and Jason Monroe Rodgers (Angela) of Greenwood; 6 grandchildren, Kendall Denise Rodgers, Kimberly Faith Kennedy, Clifton Caleb Kennedy, James Brentley Rodgers, Sadie Grace Rodgers and Caitlin Abigail “Abby” Williams; two sisters, Linder Bond (Kip) of Oxford and Mary Evelyn McKay of Senatobia; three brothers, Charles Prince Rodgers (Bobbie) of Batesville, Claude Wesley Rodgers (Sally) of Charleston and William Henry Rodgers (Barbara) of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmond Henry and Maggie Lee Rodgers; and one grandson. Morgan Aaron Rodgers.
