MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jane LeFrance Jernberg, 64, of Memphis, passed away Tuesday, March 15, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis after a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1951, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
A memorial service celebrating Jane’s life was held 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Second Baptist Church in Memphis. A private family graveside service was held 10:30 a.m. March 19 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale had charge of the arrangements.
Jane was a native of Sumner, but lived most of her adult life in Memphis. Jane had a great love for her hometown and for her childhood church, First Baptist Church, Sumner. She recently retired from St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Prior to working there, she was employed by William R. Moore Company, Baptist Memorial Hospital and the Better Business Bureau. In each place of employment, Jane cherished the friendship of her co-workers.
The Second Baptist Church of Memphis was Jane’s beloved church home. She was a faithful member of Adult 6 Sunday School Class and the Margaret Ware Bible Study.
Jane is survived by two brothers, James Peter Jernberg and his wife Pat of Jackson and Dr. William Curtis Jernberg and his wife Janice of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by two nieces, Jennifer Robin Jernberg of Charlottesville, Va., and Anne Jernberg Scalfaro and her husband Damon of Denver, Col.; one nephew, William Bradley Jernberg and his wife Margaret of Houston, Texas; and one great-nephew, William Owen Jernberg, also of Houston, Texas.
Preceding Jane in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Peter Jernberg, Sr. of Sumner. Mrs. Jernberg was the former Eleanor LeFrance Boyette of Ruleville.
