CHARLESTON — Janie Mae Kendall, age 87, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Ashland Cemetery in Cascilla. Rev. Linnie Maples and Rev. Mark Moore officiated. Affordable Funeral Home of Grenada had charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ida Mae Akins; her husband, Thomas Jefferson Kendall; a daughter, Wanda Carol Kendall; a great-grandchild, Blayton Kendall; and two brothers, William Carlton Akins and David Earl Akins.
She is survived by a son, Norris Thomas Kendall (Peggy); a daughter, Nancy Kendall Winters (Roger); grandchildren, Wanda Kendall Smith, Larisa Kendall Strider (Henry), Teresa Kendall Gaither, Lisa Kendall Harper (Dennis), Ashley Winters Melton (Kevin), Dale Keith Winters (Hannah), and Amanda Odell (Scottie Tyler); great-grandchildren, Leigha Burt (Timothy Carpenter), Alaina Jade Dungan (Luke), Bradley Smith, Matthew Melton, Amelia Melton, Easton Dale Winters, Harley K. Harper, Bella Kendall, Jayce Gaither, Henry Strider, Christian Strider, Madison Tyler, and Mason Tyler; and great-great-grandchild, Graeson Cole Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Keith Winters, Kevin Melton, Dennis Harper, Henry Strider, Andy Confee and David Lee Akins.
