MARION, Ark. — Spencer M. Mullen, Jr., 73, of Marion, Ark., passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m.Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the Mullen Family Plot at the Paul Cemetery in Tallahatchie County with the Rev. William Tribble officiating.
He was born June 29, 1947 in Grenada to S.M. and Yvonne Mullen. Spencer had a long, successful 50 year career with Rees-Memphis, Inc. retiring as a purchasing agent. He had also honorably served in the National Guard.
While hunting and fishing on his land were among his many hobbies, he enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and he also loved to travel in their RV with the family on trips making memories to last a lifetime. Spencer possessed a loving, kind spirit and was a devoted family man, especially to his grandchildren whom he adored. Spencer was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved and knew his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord and no longer suffering. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Mullen; two daughters, Lisa Owen of Arlington, Tenn. and Beth Moore of Brookland, Ark.; one son, Spencer M. “Trey” Mullen, III of Marion; two sisters, Joy Dungan (Gene) of Scobey and Ann Cox (Warren) of Grenada; six grandchildren, Kristian, Maegan, Kalle, and Mallory Stevens, and Isabela and Braeden Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gayle May and a brother, Wayne Mullen.
