W.C. Wood
CASCILLA — W.C. “Sonnie” Wood, age 77, of Cascilla, passed away Monday, April 4, at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1938 in Carroll County to Guy Monroe, Sr. and Nona Katherine Holmes Wood. He was a retired employee of Randall Textron, where he worked for 41 years. Sonnie was a member of the Stonefield Church of God.
A service to celebrate his life was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Stonefield Church of God at Cascilla with Rev. Shannon Kendall, Rev. Mark Moore and Dr. Brent Barker officiating with interment following in the church cemetery. McKibben and Guinn Funeral Services had charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Wood Holder and her husband, Sonny of Grenada; three brothers, Paul Wood of Detroit, Mich., Charlie Wood and his wife, Elizabeth of Grenada and Wilford Wood of Nevada; two grandchildren, Nicholas Glasgow of Batesville and Amber Nicole Glasgow of Clarksdale; the mother of his children, Janie L. Wood and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brenda Wood Glasgow; one sister, Dorothy Wood McCalop; and three brothers, Guy Wood, Jr., J.R. Wood and William D. “Pete” Wood.
Pallbearers were Henry Kendall, Ray Kendall, Johnny Ray King, Roger Morris, Mack Smith and Merle Winters. Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Buchanan, James Earl Kendall and Norris Kendall.
