CHARLESTON — William V. “Bill” Porter, age 90, passed away Wednesday, April 13.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired from Red Ball Motor Freight and was a pastor for many years before moving to Memphis.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Adams Arbor Church of God of Prophecy with interment following in the church cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Fay Porter of Hernando; daughters, Carla Fast (David) of Southaven, Deb Weeks (Glen) of Southaven, Rita Mayo of Attalla, Ala., and Sharon Porter of Water Valley; a sister, Marie Freeman (William) of Enid; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to The American Diabetes Association.
