CHARLESTON — W.L. McFerrin, age 82, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 27, at Baptist North Mississippi in Oxford.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Charleston City Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
He was an avid hunter, loved spending time with his grandchildren, was an active member of Charleston Lions Club, Courthouse Coffee Club, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston where he was also member of the Men's Fellowship Class.
Those whom he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife, Pam McFerrin of Charleston; one daughter, Amy Hillyer (Matt) of Louisville; three sons, Barry McFerrin (Gene) of Charleston, Larry McFerrin (Louise) of Mobile, Ala., Joe Kellum of Pope; six grandchildren, Taz Lee McFerrin, Michael Lee McFerrin, Allyn Denley Flautt, Isabella Grace Hillyer, Chloe Elizabeth Hillyer, Joe C. Kellum Jr.; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Maudie McFerrin; one son, Richard McFerrin; one grandchild, Adrian Nicole Kellum; and two sisters, Lane Strider and Nancy Lacefield.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to: First Baptist Church Charleston, MS; Charleston City Cemetery or the charity of choice.
