Ole Miss senior quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been named the 2025 C Spire Conerly Trophy winner, earning the honor as Mississippi’s most outstanding college football player during the 30th anniversary celebration of the award. Chambliss was selected from a highly competitive field of nine nominees representing every level of college football in the state.
A transfer from Ferris State, Chambliss delivered a historic season for the Rebels. Since becoming the starter in Week Three, he averaged 348.6 total yards per game, including 300 yards per game in SEC play, and became just the seventh Ole Miss quarterback to surpass 3,000 passing yards in a single season. He finished the regular season with 3,016 passing yards and 3,486 total yards of offense, highlighted by his dominant Egg Bowl performance in which he threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns, earning SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors and leading Ole Miss to an 11-1 finish.
As part of the expanded 30th anniversary celebration, two additional awards were presented to showcase the depth of talent across all levels of Mississippi football. Jackson State quarterback JaCobian Morgan was selected as the inaugural winner of the SWAC Impact Award after posting 1,183 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 265 rushing yards in just six games. His dynamic play and leadership made him one of the most effective quarterbacks in the conference this season.
Delta State linebacker William Carter IV earned the Division II/III Excellence Award following a standout senior campaign. Carter recorded 59 total tackles, including 5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, and five pass breakups, serving as the cornerstone of the Statesmen defense and earning First Team All-Gulf South Conference honors.
The 2025 Conerly Trophy nominee class featured outstanding student-athletes from across Mississippi: Jacorian Sewell (Alcorn State), Wyatt Beck (Belhaven), William Carter IV (Delta State), JaCobian Morgan (Jackson State), Grant Bizjack (Millsaps), Brenen Thompson (Mississippi State), Josh Brown (Mississippi Valley State), Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss), and Braylon Braxton (Southern Miss).
“This year’s nominees represent the incredible depth of talent across Mississippi,” said Andrea Patterson, executive director of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum. “From the SWAC to Division II and III to the SEC, these athletes elevated their programs and delivered unforgettable seasons. We are honored to celebrate their achievements on the 30th anniversary of the C Spire Conerly Trophy, and we are proud to recognize Trinidad, JaCobian, and William for their exceptional performances this year.”
The C Spire Conerly Trophy is named after Ole Miss and New York Giants legend Charlie Conerly, and is awarded each year to Mississippi’s top college football player. A panel of statewide media members and football scouts selects the winner using a scoring system based on on-field performance, value to team, sportsmanship, and intangibles.
