Editor, Sun-Sentinel:
A few weeks ago Mr. [Joe] Young wrote about the county’s new E-911 addressing not working with GPS and no one taking responsibility.
I have had the same experience. I have had to go to Batesville twice — 80 miles round trip — to pick up packages from UPS and answered a phone call asking directions for a delivery to my house because the GPS system did not work with the new county addresses.
The ones I blame are the supervisors, because they approve all contracts for the county and are responsible for the results.
Part of the county administrator’s job is to see that the supervisors’ decisions are carried out, and the department heads are to see that their part of the decisions are achieved.
The new E-911 address numbers should not have been given to the Postal Service or they should have coordinated with the county until the GPS system was working.
That is a lack of communication between the contractor, the county and the Postal Service.
Now that we know who’s to blame, it is urgent to get the problem fixed.
