Editor, Sun-Sentinel:
I have lived in Enid for 60 years. Oakland One Stop and Oakland Dollar General are the closest stores to get what my limited income will allow.
I used to go Oakland-Enid Road, which is a good road until you get to the gravel part. I’m used to bad gravel roads, but this little stretch of gravel road has become undrivable. I have a small car and recently had my motor mounts, transmission mounts and a ball joint replaced.
So now I take the Enid-Teasdale Road to 51 highway and go to Oakland that way. The road is good but there is so much garbage on the sides of the road it is an eyesore and an embarrassment.
Are these roads so far from Yalobusha County government, they don’t care? How smart do you have to be to know a gravel road needs gravel and ditches on the side to drain water?
Send a road department truck to the Enid turnoff on 51 highway. You have to see this to believe how much filth is on the roadside. The letter is constant on both sides of the road to the Tallahatchie County line. Tallahatchie County picks up litter and if you call the road department, they come.
This pitiful gravel road and all this garbage has to be in some county department. So please, somebody, do your job.
This is my Mississippi and this is unnecessary.
