CHARLESTON — Pamela Gay Parish Tribble (Pam), age 73, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, in Oxford after a brief illness, surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Charleston First Methodist Church. A memorial service honoring Pam’s life will follow at 11 a.m. Womble Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Pam was born Feb. 2, 1951 to Barry Nash Parish and Mildred Carithers Parish in Charleston. She lived all her life in Charleston and graduated from East Tallahatchie High School with her beloved Class of 69. She graduated from Delta State University and spent her entire teaching career in the East Tallahatchie and Charleston School Districts until her retirement in 2010.
She married her high school sweetheart, Dwight Cole Tribble and together raised two sons, Dwight Cole Tribble, Jr. (Cole) and John Nash Tribble (Nash).
Pam never met a cat she didn’t love and take care of and didn’t think the Charleston Methodist Church could operate without her assistance. Many people would agree with that statement. Besides her cats, she loved her flowers, working in her yard and taking care of anyone who needed help. She made sure there was plenty of food for every family gathering — if she said she was bringing three things, she brought six or eight or ten, always. She loved to cook and spent her free time taking care of anybody who needed her.
Pam had a dry wit about her that brought a smile to everyone.
She enjoyed her retirement years going on annual vacations with high school friends, Beverly, Liz, Janice, Isabel, and Edwina, with Dottie and DeLoris as chaperones and trust me, they needed chaperones. Occasional lunches with other high school friends kept this group together for more than 50 years. Whether a beach trip or an Ole Miss ballgame, Pam was prepared and took care of everybody with puzzles, happies, snacks and way too much luggage, just in case, and as Liz and Beverly said “she always kept their secrets.” They recently had lunch together keeping the tradition going.
Pam is survived by her husband Dwight, son Nash (Lindsey), her sister, Dottie Seymour (Aubrey); sisters-in-love, Mitzi Woods (Anthony), Dawn Morrow (Doyle) and Debbie Tribble (Stan); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her parents, her brother Tandy Parish, and her son, Cole, preceded her in death.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
