Seal bids will be received by the East Tallahatchie School District, 411 Chestnut street, Charleston, MS 38921 up to and no later than 5:00 P. M. , on April 10, 2025, and opened up at the School board meeting thereafter. There will be two timber sales in Tallahatchie county> The bids will be for the right to THIN TIMBER (per ton) designated for that purpose on approximately 120 acres of School Trust Lands in Section 16 Township 23 north, Range 03 east, Tallahatchie county, MS and 110 acres of final harvest (lump sum) in Section 16 Township 24 north Range 3 east.
Before bids are submitted, full information concerning the material for sale, condition of the sale, submission of bids, and a copy of the sample contract should be obtained from the MFC Forester Shaun Rogers 601-540-2611. Prospective bidders shall be required to present a Performance bond in the amount as specified within the sample contract at the signing of the timber sale contract. The right to reject any and all bids is reserved.
NOTICE OF REDISTRICTING FOR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER SEATS
WEST TALLAHATCHIE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Pursuant to Mississippi law, including but not limited to Miss. Code Ann. § 37-7-201 and § 37-7-225, notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Tallahatchie School District has adopted a redistricting plan for the school board member election districts. This redistricting is required to ensure compliance with state and federal law, including the principle of one person, one vote, following the most recent decennial census.
The new district boundaries have been established and will take effect for future elections of school board members. A map detailing the revised school board districts is available for public inspection at the West Tallahatchie School District Office, located at 1096 Friendship West Road, Sumner, MS 38957, during regular business hours. The map may also be available on the district’s website.
This notice shall be published once a week for three (3) consecutive weeks in accordance with Miss. Code Ann. § 37-7-225.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES
The City of Charleston requests proposals from qualified firms or individuals to provide engineering services for work related to the implementation of FY 2025 CDBG project(s). You are invited to submit a proposal, in accordance with this request, to the Office of the City Clerk, City of Charleston at Post Office Box 420; 135 Court Square; Charleston, MS 38921, no later than 4 p.m. on April 22, 2025
The Engineer will be responsible for preparing project cost estimates for application preparation and if awarded, the selected Engineer will provide all engineering services through project closeout in accordance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following: 1) prepare plans and specifications, 2) distribute bid documents, 3) assist in bid opening and prepare bid tabulation, 4) assist in the execution of construction contracts, 5) hold pre-construction conference, and 6) perform construction inspection including periodic reports to the City of Charleston and approve all payment requests. A timeline of required activities is available upon request.

To be evaluated properly, the following must be addressed in detail:
Qualifications – List of qualifications of persons to be assigned to project;
Experience – Information regarding the firm’s experience and the projects previously undertaken, including the type and amount of grants awarded, the projects activities, and the status of the projects;
Capacity for Performance – Identify the number and title of staff assigned to provide services.
The Governing Board of the City of Charleston will meet to evaluate each proposal. The City of Charleston may hold proposals for a period of not to exceed thirty (30) days for the purpose of reviewing the content of the proposals and investigating the qualifications of the firms and assigned individuals. The City of Charleston reserves the right to reject any and/or all proposals or waive any irregularities.
Subject to CDBG award(s) and the removal of all environmental conditions, the City of Charleston will award a contract with the qualified individual or firm whose proposal has the highest number of cumulative points issued by the board and determined to be the most advantageous to the City of Charleston, price and other factors considered. The contract will include scope and extent of work and other essential requirements. An individual contract will be executed for each awarded project, and the contract will be on a fixed price basis. The City of Charleston has the authority to terminate the selection at any time.

11. All bids must offer a guaranteed buy-back provision at the end of three (3), four (4) and five (5) years. All bidders must list any conditions and/or limitations to their buy-back offer. Pricing guarantees from outside sources / Auction Companies may also be solicited and be made a part of this bid process. The buy-back offer and/or the pricing guarantee from the Auction Company(s) may be a factor in determining the lowest and best bid.
12. It shall be incumbent upon each bidder to understand the specifications on the bid form and to obtain clarification when necessary. It is not the intent of the specifications to limit the bidding process to any make or manufacturer, but to fill a specific need and to perform a specific task.
13. The Board of Supervisors of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi reserves the right to determine which is the lowest and best bid and to accept or reject any or all bids based on that determination.

WHEREAS, April marks the anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, which sought to eliminate discrimination in housing opportunities and to affirmatively further housing choices for all Americans; and
WHEREAS, the ongoing struggle for dignity and housing opportunity for all is not the exclusive province of the Federal government; and
WHEREAS, vigorous local efforts to combat discrimination can be as effective, if not more so, than Federal efforts; and
WHEREAS, illegal barriers to equal opportunity in housing, no matter how subtle, diminish the rights of all;
