EARLY NOTICE AND PUBLIC REVIEW OF A PROPOSED ACTIVITY IN A FLOODPLAINS
To: All interested Agencies, Groups, and Individuals
This is to give notice that the Town of Sumner has conducted an evaluation as required by Executive Order 11988 and/or 11990, to determine the potential effect that its activity in the floodplains will have on the human environment for the Town of Sumner’s 2024 CDBG Grant. This project will assist the Town of Sumner with the rehabilitation of a sewer pump station and the replacement of sewer mains throughout the project area. The proposed project(s) is located in the Town of Sumner, and a map of activities is available upon request from Sumner Town Hall.
There are three primary purposes for this notice. First, individuals who may be affected by activities in floodplains and those with an interest in protecting the natural environment should be given the opportunity to express their concerns and provide information about these areas.
Second, an adequate public notice program can be an important public educational tool. The dissemination of information about floodplains can facilitate and enhance Federal efforts to reduce the risks associated with the occupancy and modification of these special areas. Third, as a matter of fairness, when the federal government determines it will participate in actions taking place in floodplains, it must inform those who may be put at greater or continued risk.
Written comments must be received by the Town of Sumner at 507 Walnut Street, Sumner, MS 38957 on or before September 24, 2025, at 4:30 PM. Comments may also be submitted via email to bmanning@ndpdd.com
