SUMNER — The Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation recently held the third 5K walk/run and Community Health Fair to raise awareness of sickle cell disease.
Local and neighboring businesses, churches and community members joined hands to give their time and financial support to make this event a success.
The Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation expresses appreciation to Sumner Mayor Jackson Webb and the town of Sumner, the Emmett Till Multi-Purpose Complex, the West Tallahatchie School District, Old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, the Emmett Till Intrepid Center, William Cheeks, National Forestry Commission, Venetta Halbert, Coahoma Community College, Domino’s Pizza of Clarksdale, Sonic and Kentucky Fried Chicken of Bolivar County, as well as local and area vendors, runners, walkers and individuals living with sickle cell and their families, for joining hands to raise awareness of sickle cell and other health-related illnesses.
Organizers look forward to next year’s event.
