CASCILLA — Rev. Larry Joe Hill, age 73, of Cascilla, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at New Bethel Holiness Church with Rev. James Jones officiating. Interment will follow in North Shady Grove Cemetery at Cascilla. Visitation will be held 5-7 Monday evening, Oct. 6, and also one hour prior to the service.
He was born December 2, 1951 to Lonnie Houston Hill and Annie Margaret Kendall Hill. Bro. Hill worked for several years at Randall Textron in Grenada and later as a school bus driver for the East Tallahatchie and Grenada County School Districts.
He was a founding member of New Bethel Holiness Church and had served as pastor of several churches through the years. Bro. Hill was also an evangelist and enjoyed spreading the good news of his faith in Jesus Christ. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed singing with his family and friends and could play just about any instrument he picked up.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sherry Hill; and a son, Larry Joe Hill Jr.
He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Hill Frazier of Cascilla; son, Shaun Darren Hill of Cascilla; sister, Bobbie Denmark (Donald); brothers, Rev. Lonnie T. “Tommy” Hill (Linda) and Rev. Jerry M. Hill (Sonia), both of Cascilla; five grandchildren, Will Sturgis, Fallon Sturgis, Andy Robinson, Zachary Hill and Christal Power, and seven great-grandchildren.
Eric Denmark, Matt Hill, Trent Hill, Troy Hill, Andy Robinson and Will Sturgis will honor Bro. Hill by serving as pallbearers.
