ELLIOTT — Richard Earl Smith, age 59, of Elliott, formerly of Cascilla, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, surrounded by family and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, at the Elliott Cemetery with Pastor Michael Payton officiating.
He was born March 21, 1966 to Willard Earl Smith and Betty Grantham Smith of Cascilla. He spent many years working at Heatcraft. He loved hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. His greatest loves in this world were his wife, Myra and grandson, Taylor. He was a member of Cascilla Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Newcomb Smith of Elliott; father, Willard Earl Smith of Cascilla; three daughters, Melonie Smith McDonald (Geoff) of Grenada, Courtney Taylor of Southaven and Devan Williams (Justin) of Elliott; grandchildren, Taylor Hoop, Hadley Hoop and Marley Williams; two sisters, Darlene King and Kathy Smith Morris; brother, Greg Lukacs; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Grantham Smith; step-mother, Betty Smith; in-laws, Margaret and Howard Newcomb; sister-in-law, Gail Havens; and brothers-in-law, Danny Newcomb and Johnny Wayne King.
Roger Havens, Jr., Justin Williams, Geoff McDonald, Mike Hoop, Doug Adams and Eli Pollan honored Richard by serving as pallbearers.
