Charleston Rotary Club’s annual "Toys for Tots" campaign is benefiting 75 Charleston-area children this Christmas season.
This year's distribution provides backpacks with age- and gender-appropriate toys, games and more to make the Christmas of many local children brighter.
The project also benefits the bottom line of some Charleston stores, where the bulk of the merchandise is purchased by Rotarians, who then transport, sort, package and, finally, deliver the gifts to local households.
Rotary President Ray Clolilnger expressed appreciation for the "businesses, foundations, churches and individuals" who financially support the local Toys for Tots initiative.
Clolinger noted that John Ball Burnett headed up the project for Rotary this year.
