TUTWILER — The Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility (TCCF) recently had the pleasure of hosting the Kardell Sims Workshop.
Sims is an accomplished entrepreneur, author and one of the emerging leaders in the field of reentry.
He was formerly incarcerated and dedicates his life to attacking recidivism along with preventing youth from going to prison through a series of programs.
He focuses on helping others better themselves in the present, leading to success after release.
Thirty TCCF inmates gathered to hear Sims’ message and later separated into breakout sessions that covered the importance of goal setting, ways to repair the broken bond with their children, and how to parent from the inside.
“We are grateful to Kardell for conducting the workshop, providing reliable advice and effective strategies,” said Tammy Skeen, TCCF’s instructor supervisor. “Those who attended the presentation and the breakout sessions praised the positive impact of his message.”
Sims’ journey from a troubled youth to a beacon of hope for others is a powerful reminder of the potential for change that exists within every individual, regardless of their past.
His work continues to inspire and empower those navigating the challenging path of reentry, proving that with the right mindset, support and preparation, a new life is possible.
Through his work, Sims passionately pushes for comprehensive, effective programming within correctional facilities. He believes that by addressing trauma, providing education and fostering personal growth during incarceration, we can significantly reduce recidivism rates and help individuals successfully reintegrate into society.
