We had our second meeting of the year on Friday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m., at Brianna’s, Charleston.
The book we have chosen this month is The Last Juror by John Grisham. In 1970, a 23-year-old college dropout, Willie Traynor, realizes that his dreams of becoming a Pulitzer-winning journalist will never come true. He moves to Clanton, Mississippi, for an internship at the local newspaper, The Ford County Times. However, the aging editor, Wilson Caudle, drives the newspaper into bankruptcy through years of neglect and mismanagement. Willie spontaneously decides to buy the paper for $50,000 using money borrowed from his wealthy family.
We did not finish the summary of this exciting book. We will complete the remainder of The Last Juror next time.
Remember, we read a variety of books. If you are interested in becoming a member, contact Laura at 313-212-1117 or LaVerne at 662-934-1299.
