PSC announces $1.3 million fine against telemarketer

JACKSON — On Tuesday, Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley announced one of the largest No Call enforcement fines ever levied by the Commission.

Global Financial Assist, LLC was slapped with a $1,330,000 penalty for 266 telemarketing violations reported to the Commission.

Beware Internet job scams

JACKSON —Attorney General Jim Hood is warning consumers of scams involving employment opportunities, particularly via the internet and sites such as Craig’s List.

“Our investigators are receiving numerous calls concerning these types of scams,” said Hood. “We want to warn people before they fall victim.”
