Former Charleston High School football standout Alfernee Hankins has been honored for academic achievement during his freshman year at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Hankins, a 6-foot, 225-pound defensive lineman from Charleston, finished with a 3.54 GPA at Northeast for the 2021-22 school year.
He is one of 57 student-athletes from Northeast — and one of 11 members of the college Tigers' football team — who were recipients of scholastic honors from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference by earning Academic All-MACCC distinction.
The MACCC annually recognizes both freshmen and sophomores from its 15 member institutions that complete 24 cumulative hours between the fall and spring semesters.
