JACKSON — The Mississippi Public Service Commission (MPSC) announces the upcoming Solar Summit, bringing together experts and the public to address statewide concerns and issues impacting Mississippi ratepayers and consumers regarding solar power.
The Solar Summit is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MPSC Courtroom in the historic Woolfolk State Office Building, 501 North West St., in Jackson.
The summit speakers include: Mississippi Power Company’s Rates and Regulatory Director, Ben Vance; Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Andy Gipson; Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Dr. Brent Bennett; Mississippi State Board of Contractors Executive Director Stephanie Lee; and TVA’s Director of Utility Scale Solar, Ying Ayliffe.
"This summit provides a unique opportunity for collaborative problem-solving and knowledge sharing, ensuring that our state's energy policies benefit all ratepayers and consumers,” stated the commissioners. “We invite industry experts, community leaders, and concerned citizens to participate actively in shaping the future of solar power in our state.”
The free event aims to facilitate crucial dialogue promoting teamwork among different groups to reach common objectives. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, contributing to meaningful outcomes for solar development in Mississippi.
