Strider Academy seniors will be the first to receive high school diplomas in Tallahatchie County this year during festivities this Thursday night starting at 7.
Strider commencement, during which five seniors will receive diplomas, will be held in the gymnasium of the Donna Burford Memorial Building on campus.
Senior class member Dalton Gregory Fillyaw will offer the invocation while Shelby Lynn Stevens will extend the official welcome to those in attendance.
Hayden Cole Jackson, the son of Henry and Sonya Jackson, will deliver the salutatory address.
Janice Irene Gosnell, the daughter of Thomas and Tracey Gosnell, will deliver the valedictory address.
Senior Anderson Harris Robinson will introduce the night’s guest speaker, the Rev. Mike Ramage.
Strider Headmaster David Arrington will then present diplomas to graduating seniors.
Dalton Fillyaw will preside over the benediction.
Strider seniors Gosnell, Jackson and Robinson will be graduating with honors.
Charleston High School graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 19, at 7 p.m., in the school’s Morgan Freeman Auditorium. West Tallahatchie High School commencement will get underway Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m., in the school’s auditorium in Webb.
