Correction or clarification
In an April 24 story, The Sun-Sentinel reported that Alexander Fitzgerald Maxson Jr. pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated assault. He instead pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault. The initial reporting was based on infor-mation contained in a “Notice of Criminal Disposition” on file at the Tallahatchie County circuit clerk’s office in Charleston. The Sun-Sentinel later learned that portion of the notice was incorrect due to a clerical error that occurred within that office.
The Sun-Sentinel attempts to report the news accurately and fairly. If a mistake is made, we will gladly correct it.
