NCDO offers pancake breakfast
Join members of the Charleston chapter of the National Charleston Day Organization for a pancake breakfast on Saturday, June 14, from 8-10 a.m. The cost is $12. The event will be held at the Charleston Day Center, 1227 Oak Grove Road, Charleston. Bennie Paige Jr. is president of the chapter.
Junior 4-H Shooting Sports event set
A junior 4-H Shooting Sports competition will be held Saturday, June 14, at the Tallahatchie County Fairgrounds. Come out and support local youth as they compete in .22 rifle, shotgun and archery. Shooting begins at 9 a.m. and continues until everyone is finished.

Mt. Moriah sets men’s day program
Mt. Persimmon Hill to host Bible school
Persimmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church will conduct Vacation Bible School Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20, at 7 nightly. Guest instructor will be the Rev. George Forrest, pastor of the Rocky Mountain Missionary Baptist Church of Water Valley. The theme will be “God’s Laboratory,” and everyone is invited to attend, noted pastor Andrew Fluker.
Taylor Chapel three-night revival set
Taylor Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will conduct revival services Monday, June 16, through Wednesday, June 18, at 7 nightly. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Willie R. Jones of Jennings Temple CME Church in Greenwood. All are invited, noted Taylor Chapel pastor the Rev. Floyd Meeks.
Tuesday June 17
4-H ATV safety course available
There is a limit of 12 spots available for a 4-H all-terrain vehicle safety course that will be offered Tuesday, June 17, at the Tallahatchie County Fairgrounds.
The hands-on half-day ATV RiderCourse, conducted by a licensed ATV Safety Institute instructor, offers students an opportunity to increase safety knowledge and to practice basic riding skills.
The course is open to ages 10-18, and the cost is $10 per student. Safety gear and ATVs will be provided, and each youth will go home with an ATV helmet.
Again, 12 spots are available, so call the Tallahatchie County Extension Office at 662-647-8746 to sign up before they are gone.

Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own pantry). Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

Faith Food Pantry, located at 30028 Highway 32, Charleston, will distribute food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

ETSD offers free summer feeding
The East Tallahatchie School District’s summer feeding program will be conducted from June 2-30, with breakfast served daily from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. at Charleston Elementary School. The meals will be offered for free to children 18 and younger.
GriefShare offers grief support
GriefShare, a grief recovery support group, is conducting regular meetings each Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., through Aug. 28.
Weekly sessions are being held at Friendship East Baptist Church, located at 3722 Friendship East Road, Charleston.
GriefShare is a video series that features some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective. The video seminars are combined with a small group discussion of the materials presented during the video.
The 13-week sessions include topics such as “Is This Normal?”, “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?”, “Guilt and Anger,” and more.
