Morning Star sets youth revival
Morning Star Church of God in Christ, located at 1016 Morning Star Dr., Charleston, will host a two-night youth revival on Friday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6 each day.
Evangelist Teresa Walton-White will be the guest speaker on Friday night.
Elder Carlos Johnson will serve as the guest speaker on Saturday night.

Cossar park hosts motorcycle show
George Payne Cossar State Park will host a motorcycle show on Saturday, Aug. 16, beginning at 11 a.m.
Entries are invited, and first-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded. There is a $25 entry fee for motorcycle clubs and a $5 entry fee for a single motorcycle.
Vendors will be on site, as well. There is a $50 fee for vendors to rent a space.
There will be a live DJ, bouncy houses and other activities, including raffles.
A $2 per person park entry fee will be collected at the front gate.
The park is located at 165 County Road 170, Oakland, MS 38948.

Persimmon Hill to host special day
Persimmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church will have their annual Men’s and Women’s Day on Sunday, Aug. 17.
During the 11:30 a.m. service, Sis. Annie Reed of Greater Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Grenada will be the speaker.
At 2 p.m., the speaker will be Rev. Glen Swim, pastor of the Little Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church of Charleston.
Rocky Branch sets choir day event
Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church invites all church choirs, soloists and gospel groups to participate in their annual choir day program set for Sunday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m.

Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own pantry). Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

Career fair planned in Charleston
The Tallahatchie County Action Group will conduct a community career fair on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the James C. Kennedy Wellness Center, located at 173 Honeysuckle Dr. in Charleston.
Vendors and workforce development agencies will be represented, and local job applications will be available.
Support will be offered for resume building, application completion, mock interviews, direct connections opportunities and more.

A ceremony to dedicate a headstone at the grave of longtime educator Mrs. Parthenia Dunbar Blackmon will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at the New Town Cemetery on Oak Grove Road near Charleston. The National Charleston Day Organization is in charge, and any interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Physically challenged fishing day set
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and area volunteers will host the 32nd annual Physically Challenged Fishing Day at the Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery at Enid Lake on Saturday, Sept. 6. Anyone may show up and take part.
“Event volunteers and sponsors make this day of fishing and fun possible for those who don’t ordinarily have the opportunity to experience the outdoors,” said Enid Lake Resource Manager Chris Hannaford.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., followed by fishing that will last until noon, when a fish fry lunch will be provided to participants.

GriefShare offers grief support
GriefShare, a grief recovery support group, is conducting regular meetings each Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., through Aug. 28.
Weekly sessions are being held at Friendship East Baptist Church, located at 3722 Friendship East Road, Charleston.
GriefShare is a video series that features some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective. The video seminars are combined with a small group discussion of the materials presented during the video.
The 13-week sessions include topics such as “Is This Normal?”, “The Challenges of Grief,” “Grief and Your Relationships,” “Why?”, “Guilt and Anger,” and more.
