A reorganizational meeting for the Teasdale Neighborhood Watch will be held on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., at the Teasdale Volunteer Fire Department. There will be hot dogs, potato chips and drinks. All are invited.

Spring Hill celebrates homecoming
Spring Hill Baptist Church, located on Spring Hill Road between Oakland and Charleston, will celebrate its 180th anniversary and homecoming Sunday, Sept. 14. Service begins at 10 a.m. with Dr. Anthony Kay, former executive director of the Mississippi Baptist Historical Commission, speaking.

Union Grove will honor pastor, wife
Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located on Highway 35 south of Charleston, will conduct a ninth-year pastoral anniversary event for pastor Carl Ray and Sis. Dorothy Ray with two services on Sunday, Sept. 14.
A morning service will get underway at 10, with Rev. Dr. R.A. Myers, of Great Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of New Orleans as guest speaker.
The evening service will begin at 2, with pastor Tyrone Edwards speaking and members of his Massey Grove Missionary Baptist Church family of Oakland as guests.
Persimmon Hill to honor pastor
Persimmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church will conduct a 12th year appreciation program for pastor Andrew Fluker on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Rev. Robert McClain, of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Holly Springs, will be guest speaker during the 11:30 a.m. service.
The speaker during the 2 p.m. service will be Rev. Ronnie Franklin, of New Life Christian Center in Ashland.
Mt. Zion will celebrate homecoming
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming program on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Matthew Jackson, pastor of St. Matthew church in Sardis. The Corbin Singers of Vaiden will be featured. Everyone is invited, said Mt. Zion pastor Randy Mangrum.
Cross of Christ welcomes speaker
The Cross of Christ Love Center, located at 190 Depot St. in Charleston, invites the public to join them “in praise and worship” Sunday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m., as they welcome Dr. Johnnie Blount, of Be the Word Ministry of Wilson, North Carolina, as guest speaker.

Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Chapel, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own pantry). Food pantry distribution day is now the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

Gateway to the Delta Festival on tap
The 14th Gateway to the Delta Festival will be held around the Charleston courthouse square on Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 10 a.m. and winding down at 11 p.m.
This largest festival in Tallahatchie County boasts a fun run/walk; arts and crafts and other booths galore; food trucks; class reunion tents; a Kids Zone featuring children’s inflatables, a country petting zoo, games and other activities; car show; children’s pageant; the “Smoochin’ Scissors” pig-kissing contest; community award presentations; live musical entertainment throughout the day and into the night, and more. Admission is free.

The second annual District of Tallahatchie Association Clergy appreciation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the former National Guard armory, located at 409 S. Cossar St. in Charleston.
