Friendship COG sets homecoming
Friendship Church of God will host homecoming services on Sunday, Sept. 28. Rev. Mark Moore will be the guest speaker. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., worship service at 11, and lunch on the grounds and an afternoon singing will follow. Everyone is invited.
Tillatoba will celebrate 140 years
Tillatoba Baptist Church invites the public to join them for their 140-year homecoming service on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. Dusty McKibben will lead the singing and Jackie Bowman will be accompanying him on the piano. Brother Truman Scarborough will be bringing the morning service. A potluck meal will follow the service.
Saint John will conduct choir day

McQuay’s 16th annual reunion set
Retired McQuay employees and their spouses or surviving spouses are invited to attend the 16th annual McQuay retiree reunion, set for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m., at Gore Springs Community Center on Highway 8, about 11 miles east of Grenada.
CHS tells of homecoming parade
The Charleston High School homecoming parade will be Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m.
The parade’s theme is “Midnight in Paris,” and the grand marshal will be East Tallahatchie School District Superintendent Raymond Russell.
The parade will start on East Walnut Street, head down South Market Street, loop around Tallahatchie General Hospital’s parking lot, turn left onto Cypress Street, right onto South Franklin to Family Dollar, right onto West Main, go around the court square and down Cossar Boulevard before turning right onto South Cossar Street and ending at the former National Guard armory.
There is no entry fee, and former classes, members of the community and organizations interested in participating in this year’s parade may contact CHS Assistant Principal Ja’Net Blackmon at the school office, 662-647-5359 or by email to tjblackmon@etsdk12.org. Everyone is welcome to join the parade.

CARE plans ladies fall fashion show
CARE will host a ladies fall fashion show Saturday, Oct. 4, starting at 12. CARE will partner with Blossoms of Batesville to present a show designed to help local women dress for those upcoming holiday occasions. Lunch will be provided. Persimmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Enid will have their 151st church anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. The speaker will be Massey Grove Missionary Baptist Church pastor Rev. Gateway to the Delta Festival on tap
The 14th Gateway to the Delta Festival will be held around the Charleston courthouse square on Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 10 a.m. and winding down at 11 p.m.
This largest annual festival in Tallahatchie County boasts a fun run/walk; arts and crafts and other booths galore; food trucks; class reunion tents; a Kids Zone featuring children’s inflatables, a country petting zoo, games and other activities; car show; children’s pageant; the “Smoochin’ Scissors” pig-kissing contest; community award presentations; live musical entertainment throughout the day and into the night, and more. Admission is free.

Clergy appreciation set at armory
The second annual District of Tallahatchie Association Clergy appreciation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18.

A Halloween festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-7 p.m., at George Payne Cossar State Park, located at 165 County Road 170, Oakland.
