CARE plans ladies fall fashion show
CARE will host a ladies fall fashion show Saturday, Oct. 4, starting at 12. CARE will partner with Blossoms of Batesville to present a show designed to help local women dress for those upcoming holiday occasions. Lunch will be provided. Polly Foxx cancer event to be held
The Polly Foxx annual cancer event will be Saturday, Oct. 11. A cancer walk will begin promptly at 8 a.m., with registration for the walk starting at 7:30 a.m. at the courthouse. There is a $5 entry fee to participate in the walk. Immediately following the walk, a balloon release/candle lighting session will be followed by a prayer breakfast at Kelly’s Place. The 14th Gateway to the Delta Festival will be held around the Charleston courthouse square on Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 10 a.m. and winding down at 11 p.m.
This largest annual festival in Tallahatchie County boasts a fun run/walk; arts and crafts and other booths galore; food trucks; class reunion tents; a Kids Zone featuring children’s inflatables, a country petting zoo, games and other activities; car show; children’s pageant; the “Smoochin’ Scissors” pig-kissing contest; community award presentations; live musical entertainment throughout the day and into the night, and more. CHS tells of homecoming parade
The Charleston High School homecoming parade will be Thursday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m.
The parade theme is “Midnight in Paris,” and the grand marshal will be East Tallahatchie School District Superintendent Raymond Russell.
The parade will start on East Walnut Street, head down South Market Street, loop around Tallahatchie General Hospital’s parking lot, turn left onto Cypress Street, right onto South Franklin to Family Dollar, right onto West Main, go around the court square and down Cossar Boulevard before turning right onto South Cossar Street and ending at the former National Guard armory.
There is no entry fee, and former classes, members of the community and organizations interested in participating in this year’s parade may contact CHS Assistant Principal Ja’Net Blackmon at the school office, 662-647-5359 or by email to tjblackmon@etsdk12.org. TGH/ECF won’t trick-or-treat
Tallahatchie General Hospital and Extended Care Facility will not be participating in the Charleston community’s trick-or-treating this year. “We hope that you all have a safe and happy Halloween,” said a spokesperson.
