Tillatoba Baptist ‘Trunk or Treat’ set
Tillatoba Baptist Church will conduct a Trunk or Treat Friday, Oct. 31, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is free. All are invited.
Charleston ‘haunted library’ on tap
On Friday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m., the haunted library returns to the Charleston Library for children 12 and under. All children must be accompanied by an adult (not an older sibling). Admission is $1 per person. Prepare for a “scary good time” at the haunted library.
Charleston ‘Trunk or Treat’ slated
The city of Charleston’s annual Halloween trunk-or-treat event will be held Friday, Oct. 31, beginning at 6 p.m., on Court Square, city officials said Thursday. The public is invited to decorate a vehicle trunk and to share candy.

The Blue Cane Missionary Baptist Church will conduct their annual homecoming program on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. Rev. James Johnson of the Indiana Missionary Baptist Church family will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to worship with them, noted Blue Cane pastor, Rev. Clint Brown.

Stonefield sets four days of revival
Stonefield Church of God, 3196 Cascilla Road, Holcomb, will host four days of revival with guest speaker Michael Groce, Sunday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 10-12, at 7 p.m.
St. John will celebrate 120 years
St. John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 331 Church St., Charleston, will conduct their 120th church anniversary/homecoming service on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m.
The anniversary message will be delivered by Rev. Tyrone Edwards, pastor of Massey Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Oakland.

Morning Star to celebrate Baileys

Faith Food Pantry to distribute
Faith Food Pantry, located at 30028 Highway 32, Charleston, will distribute food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. Food pantry distribution day is usually the next-to-last Saturday of each month.
Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Pantry, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own food pantry). Food pantry distribution day is the next-to-last Saturday of each month.

TGH/ECF won’t trick-or-treat
Tallahatchie General Hospital and Extended Care Facility will not be participating in the Charleston community’s trick-or-treating this year. “We hope that you all have a safe and happy Halloween,” said a spokesperson.
Mid-State offers youth job help
Out-of-school youth ages 16 to 24, having a high school diploma or equivalent, are being recruited for the Mid-State Opportunity Inc. youth employment program, MySTATUS (Maximize Your Skills to Advance to Unlimited Success).
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Out-of-School Youth MySTATUS program is funded by The Delta Workforce Development Area through South Delta Planning and Development District.
Youth ages 16-24 in Tallahatchie, Quitman, Tunica and Panola counties are offered a comprehensive training and employment program.
Participants are paid $6 hourly for training and $10 hourly for work experience. Cash incentives are awarded to youth who obtain accredited certificates and credentials.
