Cookies with Santa slated at CARE
On Friday, Dec. 5, Santa will park his sleigh on the CARE building in Charleston and listen as your child shares their Christmas list during CARE’s “Cookies with Santa” event.
Cookies, games, crafts and a few surprises await your family on this fun night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend. Photos may be taken for $10.
Saturday December 6
Charleston Day Christmas event set
The Charleston chapter of the National Charleston Day Organization will host its annual community Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Charleston Day Center, David Alford Memorial Road, Charleston.
The free event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature food items, music and holiday fun.
“We are inviting all in the community who will to come out and help kindle the joy of the holiday season,” noted Gwen Dailey.

Make egg basket with kudzu vines
On Sunday, Dec. 7, learn how to make a unique egg basket with kudzu vines at CARE from 1-4 p.m. Information on basic weaving techniques and how to find materials for future weaving adventures will be provided. Basket weaving materials will be provided, but students will need to bring their own hand pruners. Some hand strength and dexterity required. Call CARE at 662-647-0942 to register.

Decorate cookies in ugly sweater
On Friday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m., join others at CARE for a fun evening of decorating holiday cookies. Be sure to wear your craziest ugly sweater for the holidays. Prizes will be given. The class is free, but registration is required.
Saturday December 13
Charleston Christmas parade slated
The Charleston Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. “Christmas Time in the City” is the theme. Anyone may enter a float or other parade entry. There is no fee, but all persons are asked to contact Charleston City Hall at 662-647-5841 to be added to a list of participants.
Sunday December 14
Charleston Christmas event on tap
The Charleston community Christmas celebration will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m., at Charleston First Methodist Church.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Saturday December 20
Calvary Food Pantry to distribute
Calvary Food Pantry, at 36 Ward-Riddick Road, just east of Parchman off Highway 32, will distribute food from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, for those living in the West Tallahatchie area and in Sunflower County outside the city limits of Drew (which has its own food pantry). Food pantry distribution day is the next-to-last Saturday of each month.
Faith Food Pantry to distribute
Faith Food Pantry, located at 30028 Highway 32, Charleston, will distribute food from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20. Food pantry distribution day is usually the next-to-last Saturday of each month.
Webb Christmas benefit planned
The third annual Christmas “Give Back for Families in Need” will be held on Main Street in Webb Saturday, Dec. 20, from 12-2 p.m.
The event is part community celebration and part fundraiser “to bless six families, which includes 16 children,” noted sponsor DS4.
Gospel singing, games and other activities are scheduled.

Honor or memorialize a loved one for $25 per name on the ECF Christmas Honor/Memory Board. All proceeds benefit residents of Tallahatchie General Hospital’s Extended Care Facility.
